Welcome to the website of the Department of Functional Biology and Health Sciences

The department currently encompasses ten areas of knowledge at the university: Human Anatomy and Embryology, Cell Biology, Surgery, Physiology, Physiotherapy, Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Microbiology, Parasitology, and Radiology and Physical Medicine.

The department's teaching staff offer courses in Biology, Marine Sciences and Biomedical Engineering (Vigo campus), Bachelor's Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences and Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy (Pontevedra campus) and Bachelor's Degree in Food Science and Technology and Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences (Ourense campus). It also encompasses different research groups that participate in numerous R&D&I projects, funded both through competitive public calls (ERDF funds, National Plan research projects, Xunta de Galicia) and by the private sector.
